Hi Adds2

It can be challenging to find drivers for older printers on new operating systems like Windows 11. However, the HP Deskjet F2480 is a "plug-and-play" device, meaning its basic functionality is often supported by drivers already built into Windows 11.

Here is the best solution for installing your HP Deskjet F2480 printer on Windows 11:

Solution: Using In-OS (In-built) Drivers

Microsoft and HP collaborated to ensure that drivers for many older models, like the F2480, are available directly through the Windows Update service.

Step 1: Disconnect and Restart

  1. Disconnect: Unplug the printer's USB cable from your Windows 11 PC.

  2. Restart: Restart your Windows 11 PC. This ensures the system starts clean and ready for a proper driver installation.

Step 2: Install via Windows Update

  1. Plug In: Once your PC has restarted and finished booting, plug the printer's USB cable back into your PC.

  2. Wait for Detection: Windows 11 should automatically detect the printer. It will usually show a notification that it is "Setting up a device" and then "Device is ready." During this process, Windows automatically connects to the Microsoft Update catalog and downloads the necessary driver files.

  3. Check Status: Go to Settings $\rightarrow$ Bluetooth & devices $\rightarrow$ Printers & scanners. Your HP Deskjet F2480 should be listed there.

Step 3: Manual Check (If Automatic Installation Fails)

If the printer is not listed, you can force Windows to search for the driver using the Add a Printer wizard:

  1. Go to Settings $\rightarrow$ Bluetooth & devices $\rightarrow$ Printers & scanners.

  2. Click Add device (the + button).

  3. When your printer appears, click on it to add it. If it doesn't appear, click "The printer that I want isn't listed".

  4. Select the option "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings."

  5. Select "Use an existing port" (usually USB001 or similar).

  6. In the printer driver list, select HP on the left. On the right, look for the HP Deskjet F2400 Series or HP Deskjet F2480. If the specific model is not there, try using the generic HP Deskjet 990c driver, as it often works as a compatibility layer for older HP models.

  7. Complete the installation and try printing a test page.

 Note on Scanning

For scanning functionality, you typically do not need a separate driver. You can use the built-in Windows application Windows Fax and Scan or the HP Scan and Capture app available in the Microsoft Store. These apps use the same basic drivers provided by Windows Update.

I hope the above is helpful!
