In addition, I tried that already it will stop at a certain point and only show that the network which is a WPA2 network is WPA but will not finish. The only way I was able to get the printer to be on wireless network was by switching router to WPA .

Hi @sji852,
I read the post and thanks for the quick response. You have shown immense patience terrific temperament and exquisite technical skills to try and fix the issue. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
Please try these steps:
Enable WPA2 encryption on your router **bleep** modem.
- Please ensure that the router broadcasts at 2.4 GHz Band and the wireless mode is B/G. These are the modes and bands in which the printer gets recognized and operates correctly.
- Temporarily disable all firewalls and security software.
Then, install the printer as a USB printer by following these steps:
- First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Restart your computer.
Then download the latest full feature driver from this link: http://hp.care/2iOnJTh and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
The printer should be installed as a USB printer.
Then follow all the prescribed steps from this link:http://hp.care/2CuWx5m to change the USB connection to a wireless connection. (HP Printers - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection)
This should do the trick for you.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi @sji852,
I reviewed the post. Thanks for the quick response. You've shown immense patience and remarkable temperament and great technical knowledge to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 Usually, HP printers support WPA2 encryption.
Please try these steps from my previous post
Enable WPA2 encryption on the router.
First, install the printer as a USB printer.
Then change the printer connection from USB to Wireless by following the steps from my previous post.
Now check if the issue gets resolved. If it connects to the wireless network, then that means that the printer is integrated with WPA2 encryption.

Hi @sji852,
I dug deep and did some research here and found the printer's user guide. Usually, HP printers support WEP, WPA and WPA2. As this printer is an older printer, it may not have been designed for WPA2 encryption. Please check the user guide link: http://hp.care/2CePxNh and refer to pages 9-10
Only WEP and WPA encryption options are given. So I think you need to go with WPA encryption regarding the printer if your router supports WPA2 Encryption.
Hope this answers your question.
