Why can't windows 11 recognise my USB connected  HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2135 printer,  for what it is? It volunteers the 2130 model  as an option to select, (which I don't have !).  I  nevertheless click on that and I can print with this arrangement!

I understand that the drivers are the same for all the 213* range printers.

I had no problems with a previous laptop with Windows 10.  And when I upgraded to 11,  the 2135 printer continued to appear on 'Select Printer'  and continued to work. Is Windows 11 missing some printers on its list, including my HP 2135, even though it has the drivers for it?  Just curious.

Hi @Kaldiyani

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

The HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2135 and other printers in the HP DeskJet 2130 series use the same print driver. Windows 11 may identify the printer as HP DeskJet 2130 series instead of the specific 2135 model because Microsoft groups compatible models under a single driver package.

As long as the printer prints and scans correctly, this is normal and does not indicate a problem with the printer. If you would like to ensure the correct driver is installed with the printer, I would request you to please follow the steps:

Disconnect the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
  • Restart your computer.

Remove the Existing Printer

  • Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select the HP DeskJet 2130 series (or any existing DeskJet 2135 entry).
  • Click Remove.
  • Confirm the removal.

Install the Latest HP Software

  • Download the latest software and drivers for the HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2135 from the HP Support website. https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  • Run the installer.
  • Connect the USB cable only when prompted during the installation.

Check Windows Update

  • Open Settings > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates.
  • Install all available updates, including any optional driver updates.
  • Restart the computer.

Verify the Printer

  • Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  • The printer may appear as HP DeskJet 2130 series instead of 2135.
  • Print a Test Page and check.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
