I just purchased the HP Deskjet Plus 4155 printer and was told during the purchasing process by HP sales support that all HP printers with scanners support OCR. They even provided (3) different makers including Readiris. Before I purchase the software, I want to find out whether the printer supports OCR. In addition, I need to know is there something I have to install on my computer beyond the HP Smart App and the printer driver.
Thank you for your help

Hi,
This is incorrect, only select HP Printers supports OCR, usually Officejet and Laserjet printers.
Your printer supports JPEG, TIFF, PDF, BMP, PNG, not any OCR file types such as Searchable PDF or RTF:

You may look for 3rd party OCR applications such as IRIS OCR, you may also try the freeware NAPS2 app which provides basic OCR support:

Shlomi....Based on your response, it sounds like if I purchase the I.R.I.S OCR software, I will be able to have the full OCR capability. Question ==> In order to install and use the IRIS OCR software, do I need any specific HP software printer/drivers or scanner software before installing?
Thank you.
