HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer is set up and printing with my new HP Z2 desktop. However, I can't get the scanner to work. I've tried to delete and reload the printer/scanner but doesn't help.

Hi @jheidt2543,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer is set up and printing, but the scanner is not working. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

   a. Check Connection Type (USB or Wi-Fi)
     • Ensure the printer is connected properly to your PC (USB cable securely connected or printer and PC are on the same Wi-Fi network).
     • If using Wi-Fi, print the Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel to verify the IP address and connection status.

   b. Install/Update Full Feature Driver & HP Smart App
     • Download and install the HP Smart app or Full Feature Software and Drivers for HP Envy 5055 from HP’s official website.
     • During setup, make sure scanning software is included.

   c. Verify Scanner in Windows Settings
     • Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
     • Click your HP Envy 5055 → ensure both “Printer” and “Scanner” functions are listed.
     • If only “Printer” shows, click Remove device, restart your PC, and reinstall using HP Smart.

   d. Use HP Scan or Windows Fax & Scan
     • Open HP Smart → Scan and try scanning a document.
     • Alternatively, search Windows Fax and Scan in Start Menu → New Scan → Select the HP Envy 5055.

   e. Restart Print Spooler and HP Services (Windows)
     • Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
     • Find Print Spooler → Right-click → Restart.
     • Also restart HP Network Devices Support and HP Print Scan Doctor Service if available.I hope this helps.
