HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP ENVY 5055 printer has somehow gone to SLEEP.  I have no idea as to how this came about.  HP Smart knows it is attached (via WiFi), but I can find nothing regarding how to awaking it.  How can I awaken my printer?

Thanks.

Hi @MooseChiChi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

To wake up your HP ENVY 5055 printer from sleep mode, you can try the following steps:

Basic Steps to Wake Up the Printer

Press a Button on the Printer:

  • Simply press any button on the printer's control panel. This action often wakes up the printer from sleep mode.

Send a Print Job:

  • Sometimes sending a print job from your computer or mobile device can wake up the printer. Ensure the printer is selected as the default printer and try printing a document.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This can reset the printer and wake it up from sleep mode.

Checking Printer Settings

Adjust Sleep Settings:

  • If your printer frequently goes into sleep mode, you can adjust the sleep settings to delay or disable sleep mode.
  • Open the HP Smart app or access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer's IP address into a web browser.
  • Navigate to the settings section and look for power or energy-saving options. Adjust the sleep mode settings as needed.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues with sleep mode.
  • Check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or the HP support website and install any available updates.

Kindly check the next steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @MooseChiChi,

Please find the next steps below.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device.
  • Restart your router if there are any network connectivity issues.

Reconfigure Wireless Settings:

  • Sometimes reconfiguring the wireless settings can help resolve sleep mode issues.
  • On the printer’s control panel, go to the wireless settings and reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection.

Factory Reset:

  • If none of the above steps work, you may consider performing a factory reset on the printer.
  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Note that this will erase all custom settings and return the printer to its original factory settings.

If the printer still does not wake up or if the problem persists, it may be best to contact HP Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
