Hi @elmano

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing that—and I see exactly what you mean. From the image, your system is showing two instances of the HP ENVY 5530 scanner, which can cause confusion or even prevent scanning from working properly.

This usually happens when:

  • The printer was installed multiple times (e.g. via USB and Wi-Fi).
  • Windows retained old device entries after a driver update.
  • HP Smart or Windows Scan created duplicate WIA entries.

🛠 Here’s how to clean it up:

1. Remove Duplicate Scanner Entries

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click each instance of the HP ENVY 5530 and choose Remove device.
  3. Do the same in Device Manager under Imaging Devices (if listed).
  4. Restart your PC.

2. Reinstall the Printer Cleanly

  1. Download the Full Feature Software and Drivers for the HP ENVY 5530 from the HP Support page.
  2. Run the installer and follow the prompts to add the printer only once, using either USB or Wi-Fi—not both.

3. Optional: Use HP Print and Scan App

If you still see duplicates, try scanning using the HP Smart app or Windows Scan—they often bypass legacy WIA conflicts.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
