HP ENVY 5540. I recently had to reinstall the driver and software for my printer and having uninstalled the original and downloaded the new I find that if I try to print photos or coloured documents from my computer they only print in monochrome. Copy items print in colour, most test documents don't print in colour but some do. I have tried all of the recommendations on this sight but nothing works. I have plenty of coloured ink but my black is now running low. I feel this is a software problem has anyone any suggestions, please.

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Then, Use HP print scan doctor
Using the below link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/topic/printscandoctor.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hi
I performed a hard reset as per the instructions, then ran HP print scan doctor which ran successfully.
There is still no option to print in colour or to use the auto duplex printing function.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.18362 Build 18362 on a Dell Latitude E7440
The printer has been working fine until now and prints OK from my Apple Mac.
Thanks
Brian
