HP ENVY 5540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP ENVY 5540 wont print colour, I have run many diagnostics and the problem is still not fixed.

When I run the HP Scan and Print Doctor, the test page prints in black & white only.

When I print the "Printer Quality Report" direct from the printer it does print in colour.

Most solutions online tell you to uninstall the software and re-install. When I try to uninstall the "HP ENVY 5540 series Basic Device Software" I get an error "Call to DriverPackageUninstall returned error 5 for package"

I am using a HP Pavilion laptop if that helps at all.

Urgent help required, I will be very grateful if anyone can solve my problem, its been causing me such a headache!

Thanks,

Hayley

@HayleyQ, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps from the link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/windows-fix-problems-that-block-programs-being-instal...(This is a third-party link. Now, try installing the printer software and print.

Also, you can add the printer using the TCP/IP port-

1.  Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.

2.  Choose “Printers & scanners“.

3.   elect “Add a printer or scanner“.

4.  Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.

5.   Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.

6.   select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.

7.  Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.

8.  Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.

Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
