My HP ENVY 5546 printer has suddenly lost the ability to do automatic duplex printing. I can now only do manual duplex printing. This is not good. I can still do auto duplex from my laptop on the same printer though but not from my main PC.

Hi! Thanks for the response. I had tried your suggestion but to no avail.
However, after rummaging about in the garage I found the original installation disk. I uninstalled everything, re-installed the printer and software from the disk and it solved my problem. I had a problem a few months ago where I could only print in greyscale. This was from another computer but the same solution did the trick.
I just wonder why, when HP update the drivers it stops my printer working!! 😞

@BNTanner
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Have you made any hardware/software changes?
- Have you checked the print settings?
While you respond to that, let's try these steps:
- Right click on printer, select printer properties.
- Select the Device settings tab.
- Ensure that the duplex unit is set to Installed rather than Not installed.
If the issue persists, please perform a root level uninstall and reinstall of printer drivers:
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
To reinstall, click here
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
