My printer was working fine until it went offline and I discovered I had four documents in the queue. I turned the printer off and back on again (which has worked in the past) but it didn't work. I went to MS Help which instructed me to remove the device and add it back again, which I did. But now I get an error message that the driver is unavailable. Can anyone help me restore my printer?

Welcome to HP Support Forum. Firstly, please download an run the following tool (for Windows computers only):
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe
HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads
It may fix the problem for you. If not, post back full error message(s).

Hi @FolksyHippo,
Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand, you are getting an error message while trying to print.
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Were there any recent hardware/software changes made?
When was the last time it worked fine?
What is the printer model name and operating system on PC?
Let's try these steps:
For Windows:
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
To reinstall, Click Here.
Keep me posted,
Have a great day 🙂
Cheers!

I have been having the same issue with two laptops that I have recently re-installed Windows 10 on. Meanwhile all of my Android devices have had no problem printing over the wifi.
What ended up helping me was going into the "Device Manager" , where I noticed my printer was listed under "unknown devices". I uninstallled the printer from "Unknown devices". Then I went into Printers and Scanners via the Control Panel and uninstalled it there. Finally, using the software from the disc (also on website) I was able to navigate through to install my printer.
Hope this helps.
