Once again Win10 updates have crashed my networked 7640 printer drivers, and now nothing I do works.
HP Smart app can see the printer, ink levels, etc., however Windows10 CAN'T see it, can't print, & can't scan.
Per the recommendation of the HP Print & Scan Dr., I tried to install the latest "Full_Webpack-40.15.1230-EN7640_Full_Webpack.exe" and I quickly regret my decision!!!
It has COMPLETELY corrupted my print/scan ability, and messed my computer up so bad that I CAN'T INSTALL it, even as an Administrator. Here's a screen shot of my Uninstall failure:
I've tried deleting the files on my Hard Drive, running the "Uninstall.......msi" script from the regedit.exe, but NOTHING works. I managed to get it to connect via USB cord using the original install disk, but when I tried to connect to the printer through my network, I lost everything again.
When I use the "original" CD that came with the printer, it runs for about 1 minute and says "Installation Complete" but does not install anything.
The latest software is worse than a virus..... I'm taking college classes and not being able to print or upload my work is really hurting me.
My wife has the same HP Envy 360 laptop as me, and yet her laptop NEVER has print/scan issues (her suffers audio and connectivity issues instead). Yesterday I had to email her my Lab assignment so she could print it for me.
[ UPDATE 1/23/2023: I managed to repair the install enough so I can scan/print through the USB cord, but oddly, Win10's "Devices and Printers" ONLY sees a Fax machine.
At least I'm operational for now... The other problems (wireless network printing and trying to remove the crashed installer program) are still there. ]
HOW DO I....
A) Get this "Full_Webpack-40.15.1230-EN7640_Full_Webpack.exe" garbage COMPLETELY off of my machine?
B) How do I reinstall my printer drivers so I can connect to a NETWORK printer again? (When I first set it up 4 years ago I was able to print/scan/fax via USB or network but lost that about 2 Win10 updates later & had to settle for one or the other since.)
C) Prevent MS Win10 updates from trashing my drivers every few months? This is the 5th time this has happened, and it's getting progressively worse/harder to repair every time.
With my full-time job & full-time college, I don't have the ability to continually lose the use of my system for extended periods.
Thank you
