MY  HP ENVY  PRO  6455E  PRINTER  DOES  NOT SHUT  DOWN  WHEN  IDLE.

Check your cartridge levels, we have found some models will not enter standby mode if any cartridges are in low state. Do not know the reason for this beyond the speculation it is to reduce the number of cleaning cycles to prevent ink starvation.

Thanks for your reply, my cartages are both new, the info I found is that this printer is set at 1 hr default before it shuts off.

I let the printer sit for a ill more than an hour and it does not shut off by default.  

It's under warrantee so  i will take it into a shop to see why.

Most shops are not likely to deal with an inkjet like that as they will get no payment from HP. HP warranty on inkjet is pretty much handled by creating a case on support.hp.com and troubleshooting with an agent and if they cannot resolve and deem the printer has a defect will replace with a refurbished unit.

 

Before engaging anyone I suggest that you try performing a factory reset on the printer. Sometimes they just get scrambled and a reset resolves a lot of issues.
