@DCL7, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding USB Connection Issues with HP ENVY Photo 7800 All-in-One Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP ENVY Photo 7800 All-in-One printer is not connecting via USB, follow these steps to resolve the problem:

1. Check the USB Cable and Connections

  • Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • Avoid using USB hubs or docking stations; connect the printer directly to the computer.
  • Try using a different USB cable to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Plug the USB cable into a different USB port on your computer.

2. Restart Your Devices

  • Turn off the printer and the computer.
  • Disconnect the USB cable from both devices.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Turn the printer back on.
  • Reconnect the USB cable.

3. Install the Latest Printer Software

  • Go to 123.hp.com or the HP support website.
  • Download and install the latest drivers and software for your HP ENVY Photo 7800.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and ensure the printer is set up correctly.

4. Verify Printer Settings

  • From the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard.
  • Touch the Setup icon Setup icon.
  • Navigate to Printer Maintenance and ensure all settings are correctly configured.

5. Check Device Manager (Windows)

  • Open Device Manager on your computer.
  • Look for your HP printer under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" or "Printers" section.
  • If the printer is listed with a yellow exclamation mark, right-click on it and choose "Update driver."
  • Follow the prompts to update the driver, or uninstall and reinstall the driver.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
