HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

The HP ENVY Photo 7855 was working fine and then not quite 2 weeks ago started printing double-sided manually only. It's like some update messed up the settings. Tried everything possible so drivers are up to date and HP Print & Scan Doctor says everything is OK. However the printer options dialogue box is now different and doesn't have any other option besides manual duplex print.  This is extremely annoying and stupid.  If someone has a definitive fix, please advise.  If I can't fix, as soon as ink cartridges are done, this printer is getting recycled/donated and getting something not HP that works.

Hello @RR-24 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

A) Printer settings Duplexer:
Search Windows for 'devices', and then click the Devices and Printers control panel setting in the results.

Right-click the icon for your printer model, and then
click Device Settings tab
Installable Options > Duplexer: installed

If not, change to installed.

B) Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory:

Enter the Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

And read this info here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2486497-2193233-16

And if none of this helps, then download only A) Full Feature Software and Driver

and download only B) HP Scan OCR Add-on Software

  1. Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.
Reminder: the printer must not be connected to the system (by cable or WiFi)!
  2. Restart the PC
  3. Close all programs
  4. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE, A) Full_Webpack-51.10.6100-SJ0001_Full_Webpack.exe (411.2 MB)
  5. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  6. Restart the PC again
  7. Close all programs
  8. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE, B) Win7plus-1.0.1020-HPOCR_Win7plus.exe (224.8 MB)
  9. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  10. Restart the PC again
  11. Now the installation is complete.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

I hope the system is working again now.

Kind Regards
