Hello,
I need assistance with my HP ENVY Photo 7931 All-in-One Printer (7900 series), connected to my Windows 10 64-bit PC.
The printer works correctly from my iPad over Wi-Fi. However, when printing from the Windows PC, it produces multiple pages with only a few random characters instead of the requested document.
Troubleshooting already performed:
- Network connection verified; ping to the printer succeeds.
- Printer detected by HP software, including ink levels.
- Printer IP address: 192.168.100.98.
- HP printer software and drivers removed and reinstalled.
- Official HP Easy Start software installed.
- Standard TCP/IP port checked: RAW, port 9100.
- SNMP monitoring disabled for testing, without success.
- Print processor checked: winprint / RAW.
- Current Windows driver: Microsoft IPP Class Driver.
I suspect a driver or printing-protocol mismatch.
Could you please advise which driver and port configuration should be used for this HP ENVY Photo 7931 on Windows 10, and how to correct the issue without repeating the full installation?
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @Marus7931
Maybe you need to change your current windows driver, if shows "Microsoft IPP driver" that could be the issue.
Please install the Full software driver from the next link:
Then restart your computer.

Hello ferRX,
Thank you very much for your reply and assistance.
I have already downloaded and installed the exact HP full software package you recommended (HPEasyStart-17.2.17-EN7900_63_1_4_1_Webpack.exe).
Unfortunately, the problem persists. Windows 10 still uses the "Microsoft IPP Class Driver", and the printer continues to print multiple pages containing only a few random characters.
Could you please explain how to replace the Microsoft IPP Class Driver with the correct HP ENVY Photo 7900 series driver after installing the full software package?
Thank you again for your help.

Hello ferRX,
Thank you for your detailed instructions.
Unfortunately, we have already tried these steps several times.
In the Advanced tab, the HP ENVY Photo 7931 driver does not appear in the driver dropdown list. Only the Microsoft IPP Class Driver and HP Smart Universal Printing drivers are available.
I have already installed the full HP software package you recommended, but the correct driver is still missing.
Could you please explain how to manually install the specific HP ENVY Photo 7900 series driver on Windows 10?
Thank you for your continued assistance.

Hi @Marus7931
Thanks for following steps, 😇
Right now, I don't know why the previous drivers for Envy Photo printer are no installing in your Windows system, but we can try basic drivers.
1. Ok, then install basic drivers for printers:
- HP Smart Universal Printer driver:
- >> https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/SUPD/SUPD-6.03.1.4143-V4-Win11-x64.zip
- HP PCL6 driver:
- >> https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL39348/lj-95981-14/upd-pcl6-x64-6.4.1.22169.exe
2. Once installed, Restart your computer.
3. Then go to Windows > Settings > Printers & scanners > Add device button to add your printer.
* Click YES to say thank you,

Hello ferRX,
Thank you very much for your continued assistance.
Before proceeding, I would like to clarify two points:
My computer is running Windows 10 (64-bit), but the HP Smart Universal Printer driver you provided appears to be intended for Windows 11. Is it compatible with Windows 10?
We have already tried the HP Smart Universal Printing driver without success. Is the HP PCL6 driver compatible with the HP ENVY Photo 7931 inkjet printer?
I would prefer to confirm compatibility before installing additional drivers.
Thank you again for your patience and help.
