I was working on my computer when suddenly my 6458 printer seemed to "come to life" (no print job was sent to it). Got the all lights flashing error that others have noted, so powered down for a minute and after a restart got the E3 error. Using the HP Smart scan it said that the carriage is stalled. Nothing is hindering it's movement (it wasn't moving when the lights started flashing, as far as I know the printer was in standby). Have tried a number of things - restarts, checking to see if paper or something else is jamming the carriage's travel, checking to make sure the ink cartridges are properly installed, etc. At this point it appears that the printer took a 💩 so I'd like to do a hard reset before trashing it. It's ridiculous that it's failed this early, I've only printed 129 pages according to HP's stats. Appreciate any advice offered!

I unplugged the power cable from the printer, waited a few seconds, and turned it back on. Everything is working again.
Mine is a printer from Costco. I was trying to print a PDF. The printer had a low black ink level.

Ron, good to hear that this fixed your issue. Mine's nothing but a major headache.
After trying numerous things, I figured out how to do a factory reset and tried to go through the normal setup again. Using the HP Smart program in Windows, it hung on setting up the WiFi over and over. I found another thread where they suggested uninstalling the computer program and running it off of the Android HP Smart app. That worked to get me connected to the internet, but am now getting an E0 error code: bad cartridges in my case.
The original cartridges (now empty) don't give me that error, but I'm sure that's due to them not being Instant Ink ready. HP's going to send me new ones, but I'm not holding my breath that will fix the problem. If I can figure out some way to get those cartridges to work w/o the Instant Ink feature, that will be fine by me. Guess I'll find out in 4-10 business days.

Finally got this resolved by replacing the defective Instant Ink cartridges with new ones that HP sent me. Who knew that defective cartridges could cause so many apparent fault indications on a printer?! (I was about ready to chunk this in the trash and buy another non-HP printer)
