HP Easy Scan hang up if I try to do a double page scan.

The first step works almost fine. All pages get scanned but then the app says "Processing...." and hung up. It does not ask for scanning the other side of the pages.

It looks like that it is no longer working under MacOs 15.1.

Kindest regards

Martin

Hi @tigerduck,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the frustration you're facing with HP Easy Scan hanging up during a double-sided scan, especially after upgrading to macOS 15.1. This issue could stem from a few different factors, such as driver compatibility, software glitches, or settings issues. Let’s go through a series of steps to help resolve the issue.

1. Ensure HP Easy Scan is Updated

First, check if HP Easy Scan is updated to the latest version. After macOS updates, older versions of apps may face compatibility issues.

  • Open the Mac App Store, go to the Updates section, and see if there’s an update available for HP Easy Scan.
  • Alternatively, you can check the HP Support Website for the latest version of HP Easy Scan for your specific model.

2. Check Printer Driver and Software Updates

Outdated or incompatible drivers could cause issues with scanning, especially for more advanced features like double-sided scanning. Here's what you can do:

Update Printer Drivers:

  1. Go to the HP Support Website and search for your printer model.
  2. Download and install the latest drivers for your printer (ensure they are macOS 15.1 compatible).

Alternatively, use HP Easy Start to install the latest drivers and software:

  1. Go to the HP Easy Start page on HP’s website and download the latest version of the installation tool.
  2. Run HP Easy Start, which will automatically detect and install the necessary drivers and software for your printer.

Update HP Easy Scan:

  • Open HP Easy Scan.
  • Go to HP Easy Scan in the menu bar > Check for Updates.

3. Restart the Scanner and Mac

Sometimes, simply restarting both your scanner and your Mac can help clear any temporary issues:

  1. Power off and unplug the scanner.
  2. Restart your Mac.
  3. After the Mac reboots, plug the scanner back in and power it on.

Try scanning again to see if the issue persists.

4. Check Scan Settings in HP Easy Scan

There may be a setting within HP Easy Scan that is causing it to hang during double-sided scanning. Here’s how to check:

  1. Open HP Easy Scan and select your scanner from the device list.
  2. In the Scan Settings window, make sure you're selecting the correct options for Duplex scanning (double-sided scanning).
    • Paper Type: Ensure the correct paper type (usually Document or Plain Paper) is selected.
    • Scan Type: Set it to Document (not Photo or Custom).
    • Duplex Scan: Ensure that Duplex (double-sided scanning) is selected. If there is an option like Scan both sides, make sure it's activated.
  3. In the Scanning Mode, choose Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) if your scanner has an ADF. Sometimes, using the flatbed mode can cause issues during double-sided scanning.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Non of the mentioned tips resolves the issue.

I have the latest drives and updates installed.

It looks like I need to wait for an Update of HP Easy Scan.

BTW I cannot find the App on the HP Support page. Could you point me in the right direction?

Even updating within the app is not possible because the "Check for Update..." is grayed out.

I have the same problem. I solved it using the HP Smart app. It is a little more clunky than Easy Scan, but it gets the job done.

Hi,

how exactly have you done? Have you  merged/arrange the pages by yourself or has it be done by the app?

HP Recommended

You have to manually rearrange the pages. Like I said, a pain but it works. You can rearrange pages in Preview
