I have 3 HP laptops and 4 HP laserjet printers on my home network. I have installed all 4 printers on each laptop and can print from each laptop to each printer - so all of this works fine.
However, every couple of weeks, I get a notification from HP Support Assistant about printer updates. Sometimes on one laptop, other times on a different laptop. When this occurs, HP wants to install (or update) HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software for one or two of the printers. I believe all of my drivers are up to date, so do not understand why I continually get requests to to load/update Easy Start. I am sure it is the same version of Easy Start 13.3.3.
When I installed the newest printer, HP M29W, I used the suggested "Easy Start" software, rather than the "full driver version" (sorry I do not remember the name for this).
My question(s) are - if "Easy Start" is installed on each laptop, why do I get requests to install it again?
- Does each HP laptop need to have "Easy Start" installed/re-installed for each printer?
- Are these updates valid?
- Where can I look on my laptops to see what printer drivers - or Easy Start version is installed?
I am really frustrated with these updates continually coming via HP Support Assistant, when I do not think I need them.
Although I have not done this to-date, I will start a log of these update requests in case that helps in the future.

@canded, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
HP Easy Start is just an app through which you can either download the HP Smart app or the full-feature printer driver.
If you have the full-feature printer driver(recommended), you need not reinstall or use the Easy Start app.
HP Support Assistant is not a necessary tool. It is used only to check for software updates or diagnostics. When there is an update released, it gets pushed to all installed computers. It is an automated notification.
If you have the updated version, you just ignore it.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
