I recently updated my mac to big sur (11.0) and did a clean install. It detects my printer but wont load the appropriate drivers from the network like previouse versions of mac os have done in the past. I tried installing drivers directly from HPs website but the install utillity "HP Easy Start" fails to locate them. Although it does recognize the printer is connected. I have tried using the "generic pcl" driver but this does not work as well.
I have contacted Apple and they have recommended that I contact HP the manufacturer. My printer warrenty is up so I dont qualify for direct support anymore. Im sure this is a software error as the printer was working fine before the update. I know being an early adopter doesn't help but when you use a piece of utillity software directly from the manufacturer you expect it to kinda work. Why not just offer an installer with the drivers included like in olden times?

Hi,
Is the printer connected to the wireless network?
You may print wirelessly using Apple’s Airprint with your printer, any driver solution is not available for Big Sur, but only up to Catalina.
You may add the printer wirelessly using AirPrint:

Trying your suggestion, how do I know if my printer is "AirPrint compatible"? A short, easy answer like "if it's so old it doesn't have wireless capability, it's not AirPrint compatible" is all I need.
Pretty mad that a month or two ago I was able to print from this old MacBook Pro to our old HP All-in-One workhorse and now I can't. Thank you for trying to help people solve their problems here.
