Recently bought the Smart Tank 500 as it was on sale.  Set-up went smooth until installing the drivers part. HP easy start continously says unable to configure device for the last step. It also says i have not installed easy scane even when i did several times and even tried to install in directly on the App Store. I just want a specific driver for the smart tank 500. Im currently using the HP DeskJet Driver pre installed with the Mac. Can someone help with this by providing a fix for the HP easy start or By provinding me with the Smart Tank 500 specific driver

@Nub4evr, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It seems like you're encountering issues with the HP Easy Start utility and the setup of your HP Smart Tank 500 printer on your Mac. Here are some steps to help you resolve the problem:

Uninstall Existing HP Software:

  • Go to the "Applications" folder on your Mac and look for any HP software or HP Easy Start.
  • Move them to the Trash and empty the Trash to remove them completely.

Download the Latest Drivers:

  • Visit the official HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your HP Smart Tank 500. Ensure you select macOS as the operating system.

Install HP Easy Start Again:

  • Re-download HP Easy Start from the HP website and attempt the installation process again following the on-screen instructions carefully.

Use macOS Built-in Printer Setup:

  • Open "System Preferences" and navigate to "Printers & Scanners".
  • Click the "+" button to add a printer. Your HP Smart Tank 500 should appear in the list. If it does, select it and let macOS configure the printer with the default driver.

Reset the Printing System (if necessary):

  • In "Printers & Scanners", right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select "Reset printing system".
  • Be aware that this will remove all current printers in the list. You will need to re-add your printers.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
