Hi @BarbaraSulan97,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’ll be happy to help 😊

Just to make sure I guide you correctly, could you please clarify which date you’re referring to on the HP Envy 4500?

For example, do you mean:

  • The date printed on documents (printer date/time settings)
  • The Instant Ink billing or plan date
  • A date shown in HP software or HP Smart
  • Or something else you’re seeing on the printer?

Once I know which date you’re trying to change, I can provide the exact steps for your HP Envy 4500.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @BarbaraSulan97,

To change the date and time on your HP Envy 4500 and ensure they appear correctly on printed documents, follow these recommended methods:

Option 1: Adjusting Date and Time via Printer Control Panel

Your Envy 4500 uses a small display and directional buttons:

  1. Press the Setup button (gear ⚙️ icon) on the control panel.
  2. Use the arrow keys to navigate to Preferences or Basic Settings, then press OK.
  3. Select Date and Time, then press OK.
  4. When prompted, enter the date using the format MM‑DD‑YY, then press OK.
  5. Enter the time using HH:MM, choose AM/PM, then press OK to save changes.

This updates the internal clock, which is used for timestamps on prints and copies.

Option 2: Set Date and Time via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

If your printer is on the network:

  1. Print the Network Configuration Page through Setup → Reports → Network Summary to find the IP address.
  2. Open a browser and enter http://<printer_IP> (e.g., http://192.168.1.25).
  3. In the EWS interface, go to Settings or System, then select Preferences → Date & Time.
  4. Input the correct date, time, and time zone, then click Apply/Save.

This method ensures the printer’s system time is consistent across all functionalities, including print date stamps.

Tips & Next Steps

  • After updating, print a test page or copy to confirm the correct timestamp appears.
  • If the printer resets to zero or an incorrect date/time, ensure you've saved it properly via the control panel or EWS before powering down.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
