Hello! I've had an HP Envy 4501 for several years, and have had multiple problems with it. Right now, I cannot scan or copy, but printing works fine. When I run HP Print and Scan Doctor, it fails on "Driver check."
Even copying from the printer menu is not working, when I hit ok to start a b&w copy, nothing happens at all.
I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling everything HP per this solution without success.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
This is a great place to get support, find answers to your technical queries.
I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-4500-e-all-in-one-printer-series/... to download and install it.
Keep me posted, how it goes! However, we'll try and follow up in next 24 to 48 hours to doublecheck on the issue.

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, after following your instructions to the letter, I am still not able to copy or scan. HP Print and Scan Doctor still shows a "Driver check" failure. It appears that a Microsoft driver installs automatically, but there is no proprietary HP driver that gets intalled. Could this be the problem?
Unfortunately, it appears that as soon as I delete the device, it reinstalls the driver instantly...
I would like to do a full factory reset on the printer itself. Do you have instructions on how to do that?

Thanks for the reply,
Completely blank copies might be caused by a power-related problem.
Reset the printer and check the power source
Reset the printer to clear certain error states by calibrating the scanner mechanism, and then check the power source to confirm the printer is getting enough power to operate the copier.
-
Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
-
Disconnect the power cord from the power source, and then wait 30 seconds.
-
If you previously connected the power cord to a power strip or multi-plug outlet adapter, reconnect the cord directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer is getting enough power.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then turn on the printer.
-
If you have an HP DeskJet 3700 series printer, calibrate the scanner after resetting the printer.
-
Load the original document or photo, and then start a copy job.
Check the scanner bar functionality
Perform a visual test of the scanner bar and light for mechanical issues.
-
Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
-
Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.
If the scanner light does not move or illuminate,
If the issue persists, I have sent you a private message, for more details that cannot be shared in a public post.
Can you please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
Have a great day!
