Hi @Savannah_32

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing that, and I’m truly sorry your HP Envy 4520 isn’t working properly with Windows 10—it’s frustrating when a reliable printer suddenly stops responding.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore functionality:

Step-by-Step Fix for HP Envy 4520 Not Working with Windows 10

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power on. This resets internal components.

Check USB or Wi-Fi Connection

  • If using USB, try a different port or cable.
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your PC. You can print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to verify.

Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Uninstall the current driver from Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Download and install the latest full-feature driver from HP’s support page:
HP Envy 4520 Drivers for Windows 10

Check Windows Print Spooler Service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Locate Print Spooler, right-click, and choose Restart.

Update Windows

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
  • Compatibility fixes are often included in cumulative updates.

Try a Test Print

  • After reinstalling the driver, open Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Printer Properties > Print Test Page.

Let’s get your printer back to smooth, reliable output.
