HP ENVY 4525 All-in-One Printer

Hello. This problem persists after another Windows 10 update but this time, whilst I have again deleted the device and the drivers, the  HP support page to download genuine drivers DOES NOT WORK. How many days can you keep displaying the "this page is temporarily unavailable" message?!?  Since HP do not provide any actual support, I am directed here to the forum where I will very gratefully accept any suggestions on how to get back my colour printing.

For clarity, the cartridges are good, HP genuine and the test pages all work just fine. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Unionfan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue of your HP Envy 4525 not printing in color after a Windows 10 update, and given the HP support page is currently unavailable for driver downloads, you can try the following steps:

1. Use Windows Update to Find Drivers

Device Manager:

  1. Press Win + X and select "Device Manager."
  2. Expand the "Printers" section, right-click your HP Envy 4525, and select "Update driver."
  3. Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

Windows Update:

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Click on "Check for updates." Sometimes, Windows Update can find the necessary drivers.

2. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can diagnose and fix many common printer issues, including driver problems.

3. Use a Generic Driver

  • Add Printer:
    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
    2. Click "Add a printer or scanner" and let it search.
    3. If it doesn’t find your printer, click "The printer that I want isn't listed."
    4. Select "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings" and click "Next."
    5. Choose "Use an existing port" (usually USB001) and click "Next."
    6. Select "HP" from the  list and "HP Envy 4520 series" from the Printers list (if available) or try "HP DeskJet 9800" which is a universal driver for many HP printers.
    7. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

4. Download Drivers from Alternative Sources

Driver Update Tools: Use third-party driver update tools like Driver Booster or DriverPack Solution to automatically find and install the latest drivers for your printer.

5. Reset Printer Settings

  • Sometimes resetting your printer to its factory settings can resolve issues.
    1. On your printer's control panel, navigate to Setup.
    2. Select Printer Maintenance or Tools.
    3. Choose Restore or Restore Defaults.

6. Check Color Printing Settings

  • Ensure that the printer is set to print in color:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click your HP Envy 4525 and select Printing Preferences.
    3. Ensure that the option for color printing is selected and not set to grayscale.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
