Envy 5000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Envy 5000 printer connected via wifi to Windows 10-64 bit. I have downloaded and installed the HP Smart app which includes the drivers from:  https://support.hp.com/wps/portal/pps/Home/SWDSelfServiceStep/!ut/p/z1/04_Sj9CPykssy0xPLMnMz0vMAfIjo...

In the app, the printer is showing as "ready" however Installation status is "not installed" and if i try to Install the printer again from the app, it fails to install. In the Windows printer and scanner dialog, it is showing the device but says "Driver is unavailable". When i try to print, the printer is not available to the program i am trying to print from.

If i go to the HP site to get the drivers, it takes me back to the above link to download the HP Smart App. Does anyne have a fix?

Hi @Monj3876

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Let us install the printer using its IP address.

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
