I have been battling my Envy 5530 printer for weeks now and am about ready to throw it away. Getting it to print either wireless, or with hard wire is now impossible. It has been a good printer, but I can't find a way to get to any support they might have. It will just not connect to may wireless home service that works everything else from friends phones to tablets. Everything works but this printer. If I have to buy a new one, it WILL NOT BE an HP — or their automatic ink supply service. Just not worth the trouble to keep it working right, and I use it very little, but want the color printer to go along with my black and white Brother. What gives with your service support???

Hi @Zilch,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I completely understand your frustration, especially when a reliable tool suddenly stops working after years of service. It sounds like your HP Envy 5530 is experiencing a "security handshake" failure where it sees your modern Wi-Fi network but can no longer authenticate because of newer router security standards (like WPA3). Since neither wireless nor a "hard wire" (USB) is working, the internal print spooler on your computer or the printer's network chip likely needs a complete reset to clear old, corrupted data.

Perform a Full Power Drain

  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still turned on.
  • Unplug the other end of the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet (avoiding power strips if possible) and then back into the printer to force a hardware refresh.

Reset the Network and Use the Wizard

  • On the printer screen, touch the Wireless icon.
  • Select Settings, then scroll down and select Restore Network Defaults.
  • Once the defaults are restored, select Wireless Setup Wizard from the same menu.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network name from the list and carefully type in your password using the on-screen keyboard.

Clear the Windows Printer Queue

  • On your computer, press the Windows key + R, type control printers, and press Enter.
  • Right-click your HP Envy 5530 and select Remove Device.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Go back to Devices and Printers, click Add a printer, and select the 5530 once it appears on the network to establish a fresh connection.

HP ENVY 5530 Troubleshooting - Printer Not Found on Network

When you select "Wireless Setup Wizard" on the printer screen, does it find your network name, or does the list stay empty?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,
