HP Envy 6110e All-in-One Printer

Hello!

I've gotten my brand new Envy 6100e yesterday and I have trouble setting up sucessfully the automatic duplex.

It seems to me that I have two settings contradicting themselves - those of the HP app and those of the computer printing (Adobe, Word, Chrome) meaning that I don't know which setting is used when printing.

In any case, I was successful a few times with printing on automatic duplex, however most of the times a HP tab pops up asking for a manual page change.

I thank you in advance for any kind of help,

Adrián

Hi @Adriannn1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with automatic duplex printing on your HP ENVY 6100e, here’s a guide to ensure your settings are configured correctly to avoid conflicts between the HP app and computer applications.

Step-by-Step Setup for Automatic Duplex:

Ensure Printer Duplexer is Enabled:

  • Before you start, make sure that the duplexing option is enabled in your printer's settings. This might be found in the printer properties or settings menu, depending on how the printer is connected to your device.

Check Print Settings Through Applications:

  • Adobe, Word, Chrome, etc.: When initiating a print command, each application will open its own print dialog. Ensure duplex printing (often labeled as "Print on Both Sides" or "Two-Sided Printing") is selected in these dialogs.
  • Make sure these applications are not set to "Manual Print on Both Sides".

HP App Configuration:

  • Open your HP app and locate your printer.
  • Navigate to printer settings or preferences and make sure the duplex printing option is set to automatic.

Unified Printer Driver Settings Adjustment:

  • Go to the Devices and Printers section in Windows, right-click on your HP ENVY 6100e, and select Printer properties or Preferences.
  • In the Printing Preferences menu, enable the automatic duplexing option.

Synchronize Settings:

  • Ensure that settings within the HP app match those found in external applications like Word or Adobe. This consistency can prevent conflicting commands.

Test Printing:

  • Try printing from different applications such as Word or PDF reader to ensure the settings have been universally applied.

Resolve Pop-Up Requests for Manual Duplex:

  • If prompted by a pop-up for manual duplex, double-check your settings for consistency and ensure that automatic duplex is enabled everywhere.
  • Restart both your printer and computer after applying these settings to clear any temporary print queue issues.

Update Printer Firmware and Software:

  • Ensure your printer firmware and all related software (including the HP app) are up to date.

Disable Conflicting Printer Drivers:

  • If there were prior installations of different printer drivers, these might need to be removed to ensure that default settings do not conflict.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
