HP Envy Photo 7260r All-in-One Printer

i have an HP Envy 7200r printer. At one time, it automatically used duplex printing; now the print window only offers manual duplex printing. How do I get that feature back?

Hello @bamillion, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Envy 7200r printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

Follow these steps in order, testing duplex printing after each section.

1. Refresh Two‑Sided Printing Settings

  1. In Windows, search for and open Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your HP ENVY 7200r printer from the list.
  3. Click Printing preferences.

    Clicking Printing preferences
  4. In the preferences window, find the Two-sided printing option.
    - If it shows Two-sided Printing (Manually), click the Refresh button:
    Refresh button
  5. Confirm the option changes to Two-sided Printing (without “Manually”), then click OK and try printing again.

If it still only offers manual duplex, continue.

2. Remove and Re‑Add the Printer via HP App

  1. In Windows, open Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your printer and click Remove device.
  3. Open the HP app.
  4. Right‑click the printer and select Hide Printer.
  5. In HP Smart, add the printer again and complete setup.
  6. Once it reappears in Printers & scanners, close the window and test duplex printing.

3. Set Duplex to Automatic in Printing Preferences

  1. Open Devices and Printers (or Printers & scanners, then go to printer properties if needed).
  2. Right‑click your printer icon and select Printing Preferences.
  3. Go to the Features tab.
  4. Under Paper Saving Options, use the Two-sided printing dropdown and select Automatically.
  5. Click OK, then try printing a two‑sided document.
