Cannot print from apps. No problems printing from HP Smart app. Ran HP problem fixer. Cleared Print Spooler. Uninstalled/re-installed HP drivers and software. Still printing puts output in queue, sometimes with errors, but will NOT print.
I believe this is something in Windows 10, probably something to be deleted from prior printer, but so far nothing has worked and searching these forums has not produced a workable solution.

I have gone through your Post and I understand your concerns
May I know which App are you trying to print from?
I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions
Try printing and keep me posted how it goes

Try these steps.
If the issue still persists, try adding the printer using the IP address -
1.) Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.
2.) Choose “Printers & scanners“.
3.) Select “Add a printer or scanner“.
4.) Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.
5.) Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.
6.) Select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.
7.) Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.
8.) Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.
Keep me posted.

Not working!
Trying to delete printer from Programs gave error 5 trying to delete a file hpwia_en7800.inf. I continued removing the printer, restarting, re-installing software and HP Smart can print but all other apps fail. Now also getting error message 0x80004005.
Wasted anther two hours without success.

I believe I have a similar problem with my HP Envy Photo 7855. It works from HP Smart and my smart phone, but stopped working from the desktop. The error message I get is "Driver is Unavailable." When I try to install the HP Envy 7800 Series driver I get an error message "1627", which sometimes reads "The configuration registry database is corrupt." I've tried deleting the driver following KrazyToad's directions above and then installing a driver. I've tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor and the Troubleshooting HP Installation Failure. I've even reset my printer to factory defaults. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Paul.

@njguru I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:
If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer or isn't working, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.
NOTE:
Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.
See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

@pladehoff Which printer do you have? if its the same as the OP, please create a new user account and then, use the above steps, it should work.

Riddle_Decipher:
How do I delete driver at root level? Maybe I'm missing something which needs to be done at command level.
I've followed all the steps without success. Can print from HP Smart but NOT any other apps.

@njguru I was referring to these steps: click here for details, also, if that doesn't help, I suggest you create a local Microsoft account and check if that works with the printer,
Click here to watch a video on how to get that done.

To repeat, NONE of your suggestions solve the problem.
As previously reported, under Programs I get error messages when trying to delete the printer. I've also tried deleting the driver file referenced in the error message directly but I CANNOT delete this file.
I can try creating a local account, but I really don't see how that would fix the problem for the primary user.
It's also clear from online search that I'm not the only person with this printer under Windows 10. Yes, it sounds more like a Microsoft problem than an HP problem, but if many other HP printer users are having this issue then there should be a fix available.
