HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer

I bought this printer from a garage sale and now the printer won't connect to wifi or print or recognize the ink. I cannot set up a new support warranty so HP will not help me understand why the printer doesn't work. How can I get this printer set up again? I have created an HP account, bought new ink, and still nothing. Again issues are wifi doesn't connect, screen shows an "EO" message meaning there is an issue with the ink, and I cannot find any support to understand what is wrong. Please help.

Hi @12345A1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy Pro 6455 purchased second-hand is showing an “EO” ink error, won’t connect to Wi-Fi, and can’t print, and HP won’t provide support since it’s out of warranty. Here’s how to troubleshoot and possibly restore it.

Check Ink Cartridges (EO Error)

Remove the cartridges and inspect for:

Protective tape still on (new cartridges have it).

Damaged or expired cartridges.

Reinstall cartridges firmly until they click into place.

If EO persists, try new genuine HP cartridges if the ones you bought are old or refilled.

Reset the Printer

Turn off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug back in and turn on.

Press and hold the Cancel + Wireless button for ~5 seconds to restore network defaults.

Reconnect Wi-Fi Using HP Smart

Open HP Smart on a phone or PC.

Select Add Printer → Set up a new printer.

Follow prompts to connect to your home Wi-Fi.

Check for Firmware Updates

If the printer connects via USB or temporarily to HP Smart, update firmware from HP Smart to fix errors and improve connectivity.

Manual Ink Reset (If EO Persists)

Some HP printers retain an EO error memory if used previously; removing power and cartridges for 10–15 minutes can sometimes clear it.

Reinsert only genuine HP cartridges.

Alternative: Factory Reset

On the control panel: Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.

Re-add Wi-Fi and cartridges afterward.

I hope this helps.
