@MickieD, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you do not have an option to choose black&white or color while printing from your Mac.

Did you try the steps mentioned in my previous post?

Kindly try the same and let me know how it goes.

Keep me posted.

So I’ve figured out the key to this problem that isn’t being made clear in the solutions which  are partially correct.

I do believe this is rooted in a driver issue. However simply installing the newest driver does not work. The key is that once you isolate the driver, you need to remove the printer for airplay and then add it again. For me, once I did this, the option for color printed finally appeared.

so again, even if you’ve already added the printer to AirPlay, make sure you remove it and re-add it. This can be confusing. I know for me I overlooked this step because I had already done it, just not after installing the new driver. So the order matters.

@Kumar0307,

A harrowing experience to be sure.  I uninstalled and then reinstalled the printer using AirPrint.  This resulted in my laptop and my husband's computer not being able to find the printer.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer 3 times on my laptop before I gave in and called the dreaded 'help/not' line.

45 minutes later, as the person was attempting to get me to restart my router, my cat jumped on my power strip and in the end I discovered the one part everyone missed... 'did you try turning it off and on again' (for any who enjoy the IT Crowd).  So after reinstalling the printer on my husband's computer... and restarting it, I was finally back up and running.

All in all I lost 3 1/2 hours of my work-day chasing a stupid printer problem in the hottest part of our house on the second hottest day we've had here.

I sure wish we could go back to real people being properly trained by a company to be true support folk and not have to spend hours searching in these Community pages to find real answers.  Cheaper products, that fail so easily, are truly not worth this kind of hassle!
