Hi, I am using my printer for a long time and forgot admin password I configured during initial setup. During search on this forum I found instructions how to reset Wi-Fi and now I am even not able to connect it back. All threads ending with "I will contact you in private messages". Can anyone from support contact me as well or what I need to do to restore or reset admin password?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @CleberSchroeder,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand how frustrating it can be to lose access to your printer’s admin settings, especially on models like the HP Ink Tank Wireless 416. Let’s walk you through the right steps to reset the admin password and reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi.
Step 1: Restore Network Settings (Wi-Fi Reset)
Since you already attempted this, try again with the correct method for button-only printers:
- Turn on the printer and wait until it’s idle.
- Press and hold the Wireless button (📶) and the Cancel button (❌) together for 5 seconds.
- Release both buttons when the Power and Wi-Fi lights start blinking.
➡️ This will restore network settings to default, allowing the printer to be set up as new.
Step 2: Reconnect Printer Using HP Smart App
Now that the Wi-Fi is reset:
- Open the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 computer (download it from the Microsoft Store if needed).
- Click “Add Printer”.
- The app should detect your printer (look for something like HP-Setup-416).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
This process should re-register the printer and override any previous admin password.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
