Hi @Pikudream1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding connecting the HP InkTank 115 printer with the MacBook M1!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

 1. Ensure Printer and Software Compatibility

  • Compatibility Check: Verify whether the HP InkTank 115 printer is compatible with MacBook M1 (Sequoia 15.4). Some older printer models may not have native support for newer macOS versions.
  • HP Smart App: Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart App from the Mac App Store.

2. Download and Install the Latest Software

  • HP Website: Visit the HP Support Page and search for HP InkTank 115. Navigate to the software and drivers section for Mac.
  • Driver Download: Download and install the latest drivers specifically for macOS that are compatible with your printer model.

3. Manually Add Printer Using AirPrint

  • AirPrint Setup: Manually add the printer using AirPrint if HP Smart fails to detect it.
    • Open System Preferences on your Mac.
    • Click on Printers & Scanners.
    • Click on the + icon to add a printer.
    • Select the printer that appears in the list (HP InkTank 115).
    • Ensure that AirPrint is selected in the Use dropdown menu, and then click Add.

4. Reset Printing System

  • Reset Printing System: Sometimes, resetting the printing system can resolve connection issues.
    • Go to System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners.
    • Right-click (or ctrl-click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system...
    • Confirm the reset, then try adding the printer again.

5. Verify Network Configuration

  • Network Connectivity: Ensure your printer and MacBook M1 are connected to the same network.
  • Wi-Fi Connection: Verify that your printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network. On the printer's control panel, navigate through the network settings to confirm the connection.

6. Check Firewall and Security Settings

  • Firewall: Ensure that your firewall or any security software on your Mac is not blocking HP Smart or communication with the printer.
    • Go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Firewall.
    • If the firewall is turned on, click Firewall Options and ensure that HP Smart and printer communication are allowed.

7. Firmware Update

  • Firmware Check: Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP InkTank 115 printer.
    • Download firmware updates from the HP Support Page and follow the installation instructions.

8. Reinstall HP Smart

  • Reinstallation: Sometimes reinstalling the HP Smart app can resolve detection issues.
    • Delete the HP Smart app and reinstall it from the Mac App Store.

I hope this helps.
