Follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Ensure Printer and System Compatibility
- Confirm that your printer drivers are compatible with Windows 10 Pro. Visit the HP Support Drivers page to ensure you have the latest drivers for your printer.
Check Printer Connection
- Make sure the printer is connected to your computer securely via USB.
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable. It’s also recommended to use a different USB port if possible.
Reinstall Printer Drivers
Uninstall Existing Drivers:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP LaserJet 1020 Plus printer and click Remove device.
- In the Start menu, search for Device Manager and open it.
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Right-click the HP LaserJet 1020 Plus and select Uninstall device. Restart your computer after removing the device.
Download and Install Latest Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support Drivers page for LaserJet 1020 Plus.
- Download the latest driver for Windows 10 and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP Support. This tool can automatically diagnose and resolve many printing issues.
Update Windows
- Ensure your Windows 10 Pro system is up-to-date:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Check for Conflicts
- If you have other printers installed, it may cause conflicts. Temporarily remove other printers and check if the HP LaserJet 1020 Plus works properly.
