Hello,

HP LJ M1132MFP, she doesnt want to be installed...

When I plug in the USB cable, Windows recognizes her as a CD ROM E:\\HP SMART INSTALL. When I run the installation wizard, it stops on certain moment everytime. ( Printer instalation failed, make sure the USB cable is properly connected....)

The printer was assigned to one guy who got fired ( it still works on his PC )and I need to move the printer to another office but it just doesn't work.

Any ideas ?

I have downloaded full feature software from HP website several times. Even utility for disabling Smart Install from the printer.

When I run the full feature software instalation, I choose which printer to install, then I get prompted to plug in the cable, after plugging in, windows will signal new connection ( Beep-Boop you know ) but the install wizard will still be waiting for me to connect the printer...

Thanks for your return,

This may be a issue with the PC's root USB hub, so try uninstalling them to reinstall them.

To deactivate and reactivate the USB Root, follow the steps below:

  1. On the keyboard, press the Windows logo and the R key at the same time. The Run window opens.
  2. Type devmgmt.msc, then click OK. The Device Manager window opens.
  3. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Note: You may have to scroll down the list to find this item.

  4. Delete all lines where a USB Root Hub is present.
  5. Restart the computer. After the computer boots, Windows will automatically check for hardware changes and reinstall any USB root hubs you have uninstalled.
  6. Reinstall the printer in USB.

I remain at your disposal in case of need.

I have been experimenting a little bit and it finally works!

I have turned OFF Smart Install on PC and turned it ON on the printer.

Then after unplugging and plugging the printer back in it was recognized as a printer and not a CD.
