Which driver are you trying to install? Are you connecting via USB or Network?

Provide more details please. Does it try to install and fail with an error or not run at all?

HP: must reconfigure USB port(s) from Mass Storage Device to HP Device

DELL support (just-purchased laptop) Inspiron 15: Software driver problem; all USB ports have connectivity.

Printer is excellent.   No reason why new laptop can't be adapted to this older printer,

I have seen cases where Windows does not have the correct usb driver support installed for printers and HP has a update that provides that support. Cannot guarantee that is the issue but worth a try. I am not sure HP publishes this so I have included the file from my dropbox.
