Dear HP Support,

I am using a HP Laser MFP 135w printer that had been working normally. Both the printer and the toner cartridges were purchased in Bangladesh and thats also where I reside and use the printer. My OS is Win 11. Recently I added the printer to my HP account and by mistake selected UK region. After that it suddenly started showing the message “Incompatible toner cartridge.”

I replaced the cartridge with a new original HP 107A toner, but the printer still shows the same message and will not print. The printer firmware is from 2019 and has not been modified.

Please advise how this issue can be resolved.

Thank you.

Hi @fkat,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that your HP Laser MFP 135w is showing an incompatible toner error as by mistake it was enter as Uk region, I would request you to please follow the steps:

Verify Cartridge Compatibility

  • Confirm that the toner cartridge is designed for the HP Laser MFP 135w.
  • Always use genuine HP cartridges, as non‑HP products may trigger compatibility errors.

Reinstall the Cartridge

  • Remove the toner cartridge from the printer.
  • Inspect both the cartridge and slot for dust, debris, or packaging material.
  • Reinsert the cartridge securely until it clicks into place.

Reset the Printer

  • Power off the printer using the Power button.
  • Wait about 10 seconds, then turn it back on to refresh the system.

Check Dynamic Security

  • HP printers with dynamic security only work with cartridges containing an original HP chip.
  • Visit HP’s Dynamic Security documentation to confirm your cartridge meets requirements.

Replace the Cartridge

  • If the error persists, try another new, compatible HP toner cartridge.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Connect the printer to HP Smart or HP Support Assistant.
  • Install any available firmware updates, as these can resolve compatibility issues.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I have already tried all of these. Could anyone help me to reset the regiona settings? Or some other meaningful advice?

Hi @fkat,

Thank you for responding.

I am regret to hear that the issue is not resolved. As a last resort I would request you to please perfrom a factory reset and start over which should fix the issue.

Button Combination (Most Common)

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect any cables.
  2. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel (X) button simultaneously.
  3. While holding these buttons, turn on the printer.
  4. Continue holding the buttons until the Attention light and Ready light (or LED display) blink or turn on.
  5. Release the buttons.
  6. Press the Cancel button four times.
  7. Press the Wireless button once. The printer will now reset and restart.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Thanks and Regards
