HP LaserJet 1020 - Installation Failed Error Despite Printer Being Connected

Hi,

I am facing issues installing my HP LaserJet 1020 printer. The printer is connected via USB and powered on.

I have used the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which successfully detects the printer. However, when I try to install the printer using HP Smart or the original software installer, it fails with the error:

"Printer Installation Failed"

HP Smart says "No printer found".

Steps I already tried:

Used HP Doctor (printer detected)

Tried HP Smart (printer not found)

Changed USB port

Restarted PC and printer

Disabled antivirus/firewall temporarily

Tried running installer as administrator

Uninstalled all old HP software before reinstalling

But still, the printer doesn't get installed and does not appear in "Devices and Printers".

System Info:

Printer: HP LaserJet 1020

OS: Windows 11 PRO - 64-bit]

Connection: USB cable

Please help me with a proper driver or workaround. It’s urgent and I’ve tried everything.
