Hi,
I plugged in the USB cable to my computer and my printer and powered on. I downloaded the drivers from here on HP site and it is now being flagged as malware when I try to install it. Where can I get drivers that are safe from HP?

Unfortunately, that was the wrong approach.
Here's what you need to do:
- Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Disable WLAN, WiFi and/or remove the USB or LAN cable.- Do not switch off the printer >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
- Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.
- Restart the PC
- Close all programs
- download only this complete package: HP LaserJet Pro P1100 (includes P1106/P1108), P1560, P1600 Series Full Feature Software and Driver
Important, be sure to read all the information! - Reconnect the printer to the power supply and switch it on (if this does not happen automatically)
but do not connect the printer to the PC! - Close all programs
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE,
File name: hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_Solution-v20180815-50157037_1.exe (157.4 MB)
Via USB, means wait until the installation asks to connect the printer/scanner. - The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
- Restart the System again
- Now the installation is complete.
Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

This issue is two-pronged. The USB is not being recognized and I will troubleshoot that.
The biggest issue is the software you are asking me to download. It is not secure and has been flagged by my team as malware and quarantined. This seems to be a common issue with the HP software. Please ensure the software can be used and is not infected with malware.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to reply. The HP software is not installed on my computer. I am unable to install it as it is flagged by our MSP and will not be allowed because it is flagged as malware.
If I just follow the directions for the physical part of the setup and let Windows 11 detect and install its own drivers, will that work?

This is the problem.
- since I downloaded the software and tested it for malware and found nothing, there is a rights problem here.
- i suspect that this computer/notebook is not only maintained by your MSP (Managed Services Provider) but also that they have not given you any rights to install third-party software.
- contact your MSP and clarify this issue. In other words, either you get admin rights for your computer or someone from MSP Team installs this printer on your computer.
I would be interested to know what malware (name!) the MSP team has identified.
I think your system has been locked for security reasons, not to allow software installation.
The best and fastest way to install your printer is to have it installed by your MSP.

When I am trying to run the HP drivers, I right click and run as administrator and enter my admin credentials. I am Desktop Support at my company and I setup the new computer for the end user but am able to install other drivers with no issues. It is only the HP drivers that get flagged.
