I recently changed from Comcast Xfinity to Quantim Fiber internet. I have both for about another month.
My HP LaserJet 200 color M251nw will connect to Xfinity Wifi just fine, but it will not connect to the new Quantum Fiber wifi. Im generally pretty savy with technology but not with this issue. I can get every other phone and TV in the house connected to the new Quantum Fiber wifi. But i cannot get the printer to connect.
It continually tells me "incorrect passphrase," but i dont. I am using the correcoct internet password.
I have tried resetting to default settings, unplugging, all the obvious fixes.
I believe it has something to do with Quantum Fiber using WPA3 security and the printer not accepting it.
I've spent hours trying to fix the issue. Please help!

Hi @WishIDidnt,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having a tough time connecting your HP LaserJet 200 color M251nw to your new Quantum Fiber Wi-Fi. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
1. Check Wi-Fi Security Settings
- WPA3 Compatibility: If Quantum Fiber is using WPA3 security, this might be the issue since the LaserJet 200 may not support WPA3. Check your router settings to see if you can switch the security mode to WPA2 (or WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode).
2. Reset Printer Network Settings
- Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset on the printer’s network settings. This can usually be done through the printer’s control panel under network settings or wireless settings.
3. Use the HP Smart App
- Download the HP Smart App on your phone or computer and try connecting the printer through the app. It often simplifies the process and may help identify issues.
4. Check the SSID and Password
- Ensure that the SSID (network name) and password do not have any special characters that could cause issues. If possible, simplify the network name and password for testing.
5. Manually Enter the Wi-Fi Information
- If your printer has a control panel, you can usually go into the Wi-Fi settings and manually enter the SSID and password to avoid any potential issues with scanning for networks.
6. Update Printer Firmware
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check this via the HP Support website or through the HP Smart app.
7. Try a Wired Connection
- If possible, temporarily connect the printer to the router using an Ethernet cable. This can help establish a connection and update settings.
8. Reset the Router
- Sometimes, resetting the router to factory settings can help clear out any misconfigurations that might be causing issues.
9. Contact Quantum Fiber Support
- If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, reaching out to Quantum Fiber support for help with any specific settings related to their service could provide further insights.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
