Does anyone know if an HP Laserjet 6MP can be set up on a Windows 10 Dell laptop. Granted the printed is ancient (1997) but it is fast and reliable and worked great on my retired Windows 7 machine. I searched the HP site but not sure the driver works on Windows 10. Thank you for any feedback.

Yes, you surely can!
I use HP 5L 6L 1100 and they all can be used under Windows 10.
You can try to connect 6p/mp directly to pc and let Windows do the next for you. If it fails then go download HP Universal Printer Driver PCL5 and Ver. 5.1 is better.
But the most important part should be that you should have a usb-Lpt cable to connect your 6p/mp and pc.

Thank you east2100 much for taking the time to reply to my message.
I did connect my Lazerjet 6 MP directly to my Dell 3570 laptop using a 'USB (laptop side) to DB25 Parallel Printer Adapter Cable (printer side).
The 'DB25 Parallel Printer Adapter Cable' female end fits perfectly in the printer cord male end. As you suggest, I expected Windows to recognize the printer when I plugged the USB (laptop end) into the laptop.
Also, the system is not recognizing the printer in trying to 'Add it' as a new printer. My older laptop with Windows 7 in a docking station has a dedicated port of this printer's cable so it worked fine there.
I appreciate the options of downloading the HP Universal Printer Driver PCL5 and Ver. 5 but not sure it will solve the dilemma.
It's kinda interesting to try to make existing peripherals work despite their age. Certainly, making this printer a boat anchor could be the only option! 🙂
Thanks again. Look forward to any further comments you might have.
Best, SeaRay

Once you ever connected the USB-DB25 cable to the pc along without connected 6mp simultaneously then Windows system will only see the cable but will not see 6mp behind it. You have only one chance to make Windows to install the driver automatically, otherwise you need to add it manually.
Add new printer and select printer port as usb001 ..002 003.... and use the Universal Print Driver then it shall be done.
Find & download UPD PCL5 Ver.5 and PCL6 won't work.

Yipee! Success. The only slight issue is because of the interface and I think length of the cable and whatever, a 1-page doc takes about 15 minutes to actually come out of the printer. 😉
But no worries. Your guidance was right on and appreciated.
I do have the option of using my older laptop for certain print jobs and it’s very efficient using the 6 MP. I also have a color wireless printer for small jobs. But I always love trying to make things work and you were a big help!
Thanks again.
