Hi @Kayserian

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation clearly—it's understandably frustrating when a trusted printer stops working after a system upgrade. You've already taken the right steps by downloading the driver and attempting installation.

To install and use your HP LaserJet P1102 printer on macOS 26.1 (Tahoe), follow the simplified steps outlined in HP’s official macOS 26 training guide. These steps are designed for everyday users and do not require modifying installer packages.

Here’s a clear walkthrough based on the referenced document:

Step-by-step setup for HP LaserJet P1102 on macOS 26.1

1. Use AirPrint instead of installing legacy drivers
macOS 26.1 no longer supports older HP driver packages for the LaserJet P1102. Instead, it uses AirPrint, which is built into macOS and works with many HP printers.

2. Connect the printer via USB

  • Plug the HP LaserJet P1102 directly into your Mac using a USB cable
  • Wait 30 seconds for macOS to detect the printer

3. Add the printer manually

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Click the Add Printer button
  • Select HP LaserJet P1102 from the list
  • In the “Use” dropdown, choose AirPrint (not HP driver)
  • Click Add

4. Print a test page

  • Open any document (e.g., PDF or text file)
  • Select File > Print
  • Choose the HP LaserJet P1102 and print a single page to confirm functionality

5. Optional: Rename the printer for easy access

  • In Printers & Scanners, click the printer name
  • Rename it to something recognizable like “HP P1102 USB”

Important Notes:

  • Do not attempt to install the HP driver package for macOS 15 or earlier—it will not work on macOS 26.1.
  • AirPrint handles basic printing tasks without needing additional software.
  • If your printer does not appear, try a different USB port or cable.

You’re doing everything right by staying proactive. Let me know if you'd like help verifying the modified installer or testing the printer once installed.
