My HP LaserJet P1102w has suddenly stopped working. It does not recognize any print requests sent via USB cable. This can not be related to any changes in software, as none have been made in many months. I have downloaded the latest driver from HP with no effect. I am unable to find any help at HP online for MacIntosh support. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Hi @falmeida ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP LaserJet Pro P1102w has stopped working with macOS Catalina, and you've already tried downloading the latest drivers without success, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow:
1. Check Printer Status and Connection:
- Restart your printer by turning it off, waiting for 30 seconds, and then turning it back on.
- Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both your Mac and the printer.
- Try using a different USB cable or port to rule out connection issues.
2. Reset the Printing System:
Resetting the printing system can clear out any corrupted settings that might be affecting the connection:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers and select "Reset printing system".
- This will remove all printers from the list. Re-add your printer by clicking the "+" button and selecting your HP LaserJet P1102w.
3. Install HP Easy Start: HP Easy Start
- Download and install the HP Easy Start utility. This tool will help you automatically detect the printer, install the correct driver, and set up the printer on macOS Catalina.
4. Check macOS for Updates:
- Ensure that your macOS is up to date by going to System Preferences > Software Update. Sometimes macOS updates can include important printer driver updates or fixes for compatibility issues.
5. Verify Printer Driver Compatibility:
- If you are using a downloaded driver, make sure it is compatible with macOS Catalina. The HP website should list supported operating systems, and you should confirm that Catalina is included.
6. Try AirPrint (if available):
If the USB connection still doesn't work, try setting up the printer wirelessly using AirPrint, which is Apple's built-in printing protocol:
- Make sure your printer is connected to the same WiFi network as your Mac.
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, click "+", and look for your printer listed as an AirPrint-compatible device.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
