HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28W
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Just purchased an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28W.  Running it on a Dell desktop.  I have installed the printer and it shows up.  When I try to print from Office Pro 2010 it will not connect.  When I try to print from Photos I get the following error message:  Your printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem. 0x80040003.  I have installed the printer with both the CD that came with it as well as online.  How do I get it to connect to my programs so I can print?

@uoflcardfan77, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print from your computer. To assist you better,

  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
  • Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Let us try these steps:

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

Use the HP Smart app to print and scan from your Win 10 PC

Click here to download and know more about the app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
