HP LaserJet Professional P1109w

The page will print out with faded and empty streaks in the exact same place for each copy, and for each different document. The streaks are always in the same places on the paper and are not allowing pages to be legible when printed.

Hi @ImNeth,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue with your HP LaserJet Professional P1109w leaving faded or blank streaks is typically related to one of the following problems:

1. Low or Defective Toner Cartridge

  • Cause: The toner may be running low or unevenly distributed, or the cartridge might be defective.
  • Solution:
    1. Remove the toner cartridge.
    2. Gently rock it side-to-side to redistribute the toner.
    3. Check the cartridge for damage or defects.
    4. If the problem persists, replace the toner cartridge with a new, genuine HP cartridge.

2. Dirty or Worn-Out Drum Unit

  • Cause: The drum unit may have toner or debris buildup, or it may be nearing the end of its life.
  • Solution:
    1. Clean the drum unit with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
    2. If cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue, the drum may need to be replaced.

3. Dirty Printer Components

  • Cause: Dust or toner particles may be affecting the print quality.
  • Solution:
    1. Run a cleaning cycle from the printer’s maintenance menu if available.
    2. Manually clean the printer rollers and interior using a soft, dry cloth.

4. Damaged Fuser Unit

  • Cause: The fuser unit might be dirty or damaged, causing uneven heating and toner transfer.
  • Solution: Inspect the fuser for signs of damage or debris. Replace it if necessary.

5. Paper Issues

  • Cause: Poor-quality or incompatible paper can lead to printing issues.
  • Solution: Use high-quality, printer-compatible paper.

6. Firmware or Driver Issue Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Cause: Outdated firmware or printer drivers might affect printing quality.
  • Solution:
    1. Update the printer’s firmware through HP’s support website.
    2. Ensure the latest driver is installed on your computer.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Print a "Configuration Page" or "Test Page" from the printer's menu to confirm the issue isn’t document-related.
  2. Examine the test page for the same streaks.
    • If the streaks appear, the issue is hardware-related (e.g., toner, drum, or fuser).
    • If not, it may be a software or document issue.

I hope this helps.
