This is continuation for an earlier thread: HP Laserjet 3055 multi-function won't scan (Windows won't see it as a Scanner only Printer).
I've been following all instructions which I found on HP site, also tried HP Smart, HP Print and Scan Doctor, MS Scan, no success.
I finally came across the above thread. Also followed all instructions. I currently have only one driver:
HP LaserJet 3055 PCL 6 Class Driver
I installed it by downloading USB only driver: Dot4x64.msi
It is configured on the port: DOT4_001.
Printer is working fine, but scanner is not being recognized by any scanner application.
Also, again none of the tools can see the printer: HP Smart, HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Not sure of the use of these tools if they can't even recognize the device which is visible to Windows. At least the printing is working, so then those tools should see the printer.
However, my main goal was to enable the scanner and based on the earlier thread, it looks like it will never work. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

As the title of my post, and the earlier post I referred to, stated that the goal is to use it with Windows 10.
Of course it worked when I purchased it, but since then, I replaced my computers and upgraded my current one to Win10.
This model is listed on this site as fully supported under Win10, drivers provided. The only difference, according to HP, is that for scanning we have to use another software like MS Scan, etc. and operate the scan from that app instead of using the "scan to PC" button on the printer.

I found a reasonably easy workaround:
- configure a VM with WindowsXP
- install a printer driver for WindowsXP
You may be able to use a different Windows version, I guess as long as it is not 10. I used XP.
Use the VM when you need to scan.
Details:
- download Oracle Virtual Box for Windows and read the manual on how to install it and configure a Windows VM.
- You will need a WindowsXP CD or ISO with a legal serial key. If you don't have it, google and you should be able to find a download site with a key.
- Install Guest Additions (per user manual) which will enable you to share a host folder with a guest VM
- On the host, download HP printer drivers for WindowsXP to the shared folder
- On the guest VM, run the drivers install
- For scanning, use the windows scan, the Scan buttons on the printer won't work.
Additional comments. My HP laserJet 3055 is still in a very good shape. I replaced the toner a few times. Had to clean the feeder rollers, not big deal. Buying another all-in-one laser printer is a few hundred $. The longevity of this printer indicates that they make good quality products, however, their support is not up to par.
I really think HP should've been more committed to supporting their products.
