the printer is always identifying paper size as letter although all settings are put on A4 both default and tray1, it insists that the paper available is letter size. I even updated its software and restored default settings before resetting the paper size to A4 again but in vain. How to solve this problem?

I have read all the forums and triple checked all settings and nowhere have I get it set to letter

View / Adjust the Tray and Paper Size / Type

Use the Printer Control Panel right after paper is loaded or the tray is opened / closed

OR

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

AND

Adjust the Default Print Options

Next,

Depending on the app / software, select the Source (Tray) during the job configuration.

and

If the app / software supports the option, create a Custom Shortcut or Custom Preset.

and

If not done, Check / Adjust the Driver in Printer Properties > tab Advanced > Driver = the HP Driver (installed full driver printer software) as opposed to the Microsoft / IPP driver

Notes -

  • HP Smart - application - at this writing and by itself - does not understand the concept of Custom Presets.
  • The HP Smart Printing queue -- when available -- works with HP Smart and other driver software.  HP Smart Printing supports Custom Presets.
