Hi @BabsyT-258,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet Pro 201 dw keeps pausing, it could be due to a variety of issues ranging from network connectivity problems to firmware issues. Here are several steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

1. Check Network Connectivity

  • Wireless Network: Ensure that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. Check the signal strength and move the printer closer to the router if necessary.Ethernet Connection: If you are using an Ethernet connection, ensure the cable is securely connected and the network is stable.Network Configuration: Verify the printer’s IP address. It should match the IP range of your network.

2. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model to find the latest firmware updates.Download and install any available firmware updates following the instructions provided.

3. Check Print Queue

  • Windows:
    • Open Devices and Printers from the Control Panel.Right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
    • If there are stuck print jobs, cancel all jobs.
  • Mac:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.Select your printer and click Open Print Queue.Cancel any stuck print jobs.

4. Restart Printer and Computer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.Wait for about 1-2 minutes.Plug the printer back in and turn it on.Restart your computer to refresh the system.

5. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Windows:
    • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer.Uninstall the current printer drivers from Control Panel > Programs and Features.Install the newly downloaded drivers.
  • Mac:
    • Go to the System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.Remove the printer by selecting it and clicking the minus (-) button.Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website and reinstall the printer.

6. Adjust Printer Settings

  • Ensure the printer is set as the default printer.Check for any print settings that might be causing delays, such as high-resolution printing or advanced print features that slow down the process.

7. Check for Paper Jams and Toner Levels

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions.Ensure that the toner cartridges are correctly installed and have sufficient toner.

8. Printer Maintenance

  • Run any available maintenance tools from the printer's control panel or software utility to ensure everything is functioning correctly.

9. Disable Pause/Resume Feature

  • Ensure that the printer is not set to "Pause" mode.On the printer's control panel or software, check that the printer is not set to pause or delay printing.

10. Test with Different Documents and Computers

  • Try printing different documents to rule out issues with the specific file.Test printing from another computer to determine if the issue is with the printer or the computer.

11. Check Printer Memory

  • If the printer’s memory is overloaded, it can cause pauses. Ensure there are no large or complex print jobs that could be causing this issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
