Hi @Jimbo2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To reset the administrator password on an HP LaserJet Pro M102w printer, you'll need to use the printer's embedded web server (EWS) or the HP Printer Assistant software. Here’s how you can do it.

Using the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

Connect to the Printer's IP Address:

  • Ensure your computer is connected to the same network as your printer.
  • Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address into the address bar. You can find the IP address on the printer’s display menu or by printing a network configuration page.

Log In to EWS:

  • Enter the current administrator password. If you haven’t changed it, the default password is usually blank or "admin."

Reset the Password:

  • Once logged in, navigate to the Security tab or section.
  • Look for an option related to administrator settings or password management.
  • Enter a new password and save the changes.

Using HP Printer Assistant:

Open HP Printer Assistant:

  • Launch the HP Printer Assistant on your computer. If it’s not installed, download and install it from the HP website.

Access Printer Settings:

  • Go to the Printer Settings or Printer Maintenance section.

Change Password:

  • Look for options related to security or administration.
  • Change the administrator password as prompted.

If you’ve forgotten the current password and are unable to access these settings, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to their default values, including the password.

Performing a Factory Reset:

Access the Control Panel:

  • On the printer’s control panel, press the Setup button (usually a wrench or gear icon).

Navigate to Reset:

  • Find and select the Service or Tools menu.
  • Select Restore Defaults or Factory Reset.

Confirm the Reset:

  • Confirm the reset when prompted. This will reset the printer to its default settings.

Note: Performing a factory reset will erase all custom settings on the printer. Make sure to reconfigure your printer settings after the reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Here's all I did and managed to restore factory settings:

1: opening printer cover

2: hold resume button and then turn on printer for about 30 - 60 second

3: release resume button and after turning of panel lights, wait for it to be backed

4: turn off printer, while holding resume button, turn it on and wait 30-60 second

5: after turning of panel lights, wait for ready light and you are done

maybe some of what i did are not necessary, but this is what i did and worked

regards
